For many, 11.11 is all about snagging the best online shopping deals. But for Meralco Bolts superstar Chris Newsome and girlfriend Cam Lagmay, it will forever be a date with much more meaning: it’s the day she said “yes” to his proposal at exactly 11:11 a.m.
“11/11/24. 11:11. This is our time!” Chris shared the magical moment in an Instagram post. The timing was perfect, especially since Chris wears the number 11 for the Meralco Bolts.

In an interview with One Sports, Cam shared the details: “It was a perfect date. It was a very intimate setting. We were by the beach, surrounded by our parents, which was really lovely, and it happened. It was a great experience, something I’m gonna remember for the rest of my life, and I’m so happy to finally be engaged.”
The couple, who’ve been together for six years and four months, couldn’t have had a more romantic setting for the proposal. For Chris, it was a chance to cap off a year full of wins, not just in love but also on the court, as the Bolts bagged its first PBA championship in June.
“We had a lot of great things that happened over the course of the year. So it’s been a great year for us and I felt that the best way to seal the year would be to get engaged,” he said.
