Attention, solo parents! PhilHealth now offers free health coverage for you and your kids

PhilHealth has expanded its coverage to include solo parents and their children.

Big win for solo parents in the Philippines. Philippine Health Insurance Corp. has just announced that all single parents are now automatically included in the National Health Insurance Program, thanks to the Expanded Solo Parents Welfare Act.

This means solo parents and their kids can finally enjoy free healthcare coverage under the state-run insurance program, reported The Philippine Star.

According to the latest PhilHealth circular, solo parents will be registered as principal members under the “indirect contributor” category, with a special “solo parent” designation. The agency is also rolling out an updated membership form to make signing up even easier.

According to the circular, you’ll need a valid Solo Parent Identification Card to take advantage of this benefit.
