Aspin’s rescue of baby in Cebu City proves heroes come in all breeds

Aspin Ching-Ching helped rescuers find a 6-month-old baby trapped under the rubble of a collapsed perimeter wall in Cebu City.

When it comes to K-9 units, an Aspin isn’t usually top of mind. But that may soon change, thanks to the heroic efforts of Aspin Ching-Ching, who recently helped rescue a baby trapped under the rubble of a perimeter wall that collapsed in Cebu City.

According to a Facebook post by One News, Ching-Ching played a crucial role in locating the six-month-old baby. The post revealed that Ching-Ching’s barking guided rescuers to the infant, who was trapped with the dog when the wall fell during the onslaught of Tropical Storm Enteng.

The disaster struck on September 1 when a riprap wall gave way, crushing two shanties below it. Tragically, a 26-year-old woman died, and four others, including the infant, were injured.

Ching-Ching, who was also caught in the rubble, was left limping after the incident.

Netizens have been quick to praise Ching-Ching’s bravery, with comments flooding in:

“Ty and God bless Ching-Ching!”

“Galing nmn chingching tpos ung iba kung mkmlupit s mga dogs grabe.”

“minsan tlga mas mkikita mo p sa aso n mas tao kesa s mga tao n wing gnwa kundi saktan cla God bless sau chingching”
