Did Birkenstock just find the perfect endorser for its iconic sandals?
In a Facebook post, Birkenstock Philippines proudly flexed the legendary Kalinga tattoo artist Apo Whang-Od rocking a pair of their classic Arizona two-strap sandals while expertly working her magic on a client.
“The Iconic Filipino Living Legend slides into the comfort of German Heritage,” the brand proclaimed.
The photos were captured by eagle-eyed netizen Dexter Francis Cruz, who couldn’t believe his luck witnessing this fusion of traditional and modern worlds on Buscalan’s last mambabatok and a revered figure in the traditional tattoo artistry.
“It’s my third encounter with The Legendary last mambabatok Apo Whang-Od and I’m surprised to see her wearing Birkenstock,” Cruz captioned his now-viral photos that caught the attention of Birkenstock.
Netizens unanimously agreed that the sprightly centenarian absolutely slayed in her Arizonas and could effortlessly become the face of the brand.
“Legendary classy Arizona+apo,” exclaimed one netizen.
Another chimed in, “She looks classy, legendary!”
“Because why not. Slayyyy Apo!,” quipped a fan.
Meanwhile, a netizen guessed how Apo Whang-od got her hands—rather, her feet—on the Birkenstocks: “Perhaps someone gave it to her as a token of appreciation.. Calling the attention of Birkenstock.”
While another had a brilliant suggestion, “Birkenstock PH come on! You need to sponsor her! She deserves it!”
