Animo Pinas! DLSU Green Archers gear up for World University Basketball Series

UAAP Season 86 men's basketball champions De La Salle University Green Archers to represent the Philippines in the 2024 World University Basketball Series (WUBS).

After the Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles, it is now the turn of their arch-rival, the De La Salle University Green Archers, to represent the Philippines in the 2024 World University Basketball Series (WUBS).

In a post on X, the WUBS announced the selection of the DLSU Green Archers for the tournament, featuring Asia’s finest college basketball stars, set from August 10 to 12 in Tokyo, Japan.

“The team regained the title for the first time in seven years in the UAAP season, the governing body for university sports in the Philippines!” said WUBS. “Can they become the next champion after Ateneo, the country’s first WUBS champion??!” it added.

This was confirmed by the DLSU in a separate X post by The La Sallian.

“The DLSU Green Archers have been chosen as the representatives for the 2024 World University Basketball Series that will be held from August 10 to 12 in Tokyo, Japan. DLSU replaces the ADMU Blue Eagles, who joined the first two runs of the tournament,” stated the La Sallian.

During their tenure as Philippine representatives, the Blue Eagles clinched the championship in the inaugural tournament in 2022, while finishing fourth in the 2023 edition.

And although the Green Archers are taking over from the Blue Eagles, there are four returning schools for the 2024 season. These include Korea University (Korea), Perbanas Institute (Indonesia), host team Hakuoh University (Japan), and reigning titleholder National Chengchi University (Chinese Taipei).
