‘Ang pera nababalik, yung oras hindi’: Olympian Carlo Paalam reminds everyone to prioritize family over everything else

Pinoy Olympian Carlo Paalam drops truth bombs about the most important things in life.

While others are busy chasing their dream travels, extreme sports, corporate success, or a fat paycheck, Pinoy Olympian Carlo Paalam has a different take on what truly matters in life: spending time with your family.

In an Instagram post, Carlo dropped the truth bomb about his belief that the one thing that should top everyone’s bucket list is to create memories with loved ones.

“Need advice? Spend time with your family, mamasyal kayo, kumain sa labas, live your life with them take a lot of pictures, create memories, pag kaya pa libre mo sila kahit paminsan minsan. Learn to spend your money with your family,” he wrote.

He also emphasized, “Ang pera nababalik, yung oras hindi.”

Carlo’s wisdom stems from his humble beginnings. Born in Bukidnon, he spent his childhood working as a scavenger, picking garbage at the city’s sanitary landfill to help his family make ends meet.

At seven, he was discovered at a backyard boxing match where he won his first fight. He used his winnings to buy rice for his family, showing that even as a kid, family comes first.
