Adobo, sisig, langka burgers hope to earn a spot in World Burger Tour competition

Pinoy-themed burgers are hoping to represent at the World Burger Tour competition.

Filipino-inspired burgers are aiming to join the global menu of an international restaurant-bar chain.

The Hard Rock Café branches in the Philippines have recently introduced sisig, adobo, and ginataang langka burgers as their entries in the World Burger Tour competition.

This marks the first time the Philippines branches are joining the international contest since their 2019 opening, said Clint Brian Peck, director for Operations of Hard Rock Café Philippines, in a report by the Philippine Star.

The competition, which has been running for years, involves hundreds of cafes worldwide, even before the COVID-19 pandemic.

Peck explained that this event is an important one for Hard Rock International, with all cafes participating. The Philippine entries are from the Makati and Manila branches.

The Makati branch offers the Adobo Burger, while the Manila branch came up with the Sisig Burger. Both locations offer the Jackfruit (Langka) Burger for vegetarians. These burgers are made from real adobo, sisig, and ginataang langka dishes, and will be available on a limited run.

Peck expressed hope that one of the local burgers would make it to the top five semi-finalists, with the finals tentatively set in Dubai. Criteria for judging include originality, taste, presentation, sales, and social media engagement. Winners may have their burgers added to the international café chain’s menus.
