Isabelle Daza’s raises over triple the goal to help blind kasambahay allegedly abused by employers, result leaves her speechless: ‘This is insane’

The internet is coming together to help an abused helper, thanks to a fundraising campaign started by actress Isabelle Daza.

Actress-socialite Isabelle Daza is making headlines for all the right reasons!

Hundreds of kindhearted netizens have opened up their hearts — and their wallets — for a household helper who lost her vision due to alleged employer abuse, thanks to a fundraiser set up by Isabelle.

She started the fundraising campaign with the goal of collecting P300,000 for a sight-saving surgery for Elvie Vergara, a kasambahay who deserves a chance at a brighter future.

As of this Sunday, at least 700 kind souls have chipped in, smashing the initial goal by reaching Php860,000.

Stunned by the kindness of strangers, Isabelle took to her Instagram stories to say, “This is insane. You guys, wow.”

Daza earlier said the funds would help the 44-year-old Vergara “live her life free from this abuse, without having to worry about what she will eat and whether will she have enough money.”

“I will make sure she receives this cash personally and not through anyone or any org. Thank you for helping,” added Daza.

Did you know that Isabelle has a heartwarming connection to household helpers? Growing up with her longtime nanny left a deep impression. In 2021, she wrote a book inspired about her Yaya Luning, who now takes care of her own chikitings.

“She does not replace the role of a mother. Instead, my book aims to convey that a yaya has a special place in a child’s heart,” Daza said at the time.

Back in 2019, Daza also went viral for sharing the job contracts she prepared for her kasambahays. These contracts spelled out salaries, benefits, basic necessities, and a rock-solid guarantee that they “can’t be fired over simple mistakes.”

“This will help them feel secure and proud to keep a job and protect both parties,” Daza said. Now that’s boss-level care!
